Motivation Exercise: Big Up My Role!

Motivation Exercise: Big Up My Role!

Purpose

This activity encourages delegates to explore the positive side of their job and role in the team and recognise its benefits. This exercise allows delegates to share their thoughts with others in the team. This activity works best with the people who normally work together.

Objective

Delegates to recognise and share a positive thing about their job.

What You Need

  • Small index cards for each delegate

Setup

  • Give one index card to each participant.
  • Explain that delegates have 2 minutes to write down their job title on top of their index card and three positive aspects of their job. For example, one positive thing about being a senior receptionist is interacting with lots of different people on everyday basis.
  • At the end of 2 minutes, each delegate can share their information with others in the group.

Timing

Explaining the Test: 2 minutes.

Activity: 2 minutes

Group Feedback: 5 minutes.

Discussion

How easy was it to come up with positive things about your job? Does exploring positive aspects of your job change the way you feel about your role? Did you feel motivated or noticed the positive aspects of your work when listening to others?
