Purpose

This exercise helps delegates realise what values they are impressed with the most, so that they can then relate these values back to themselves.

Objective

Think of people you admire the most and why.

What You Need

  • A copy of the form “Admiring Qualities” provided below to all delegates.

Setup

  • Provide a copy of the form “Admiring Qualities” to all delegates.

    • Part A: Ask delegates to identify people they admire the most.
    • Part B. Ask delegates to complete the sentences. These can be related to the people they have identified in Part A, but it can also be any other quality. Examples:

      • “I admire people who take care of themselves and dress well”
      • “I admire people who communicate tactfully, being careful not to offend others or hurt their feelings”
  • Allocate 10 minutes for delegate to fill in the form.
  • Bring back everyone together.
  • Now one by one ask each person to make a statement with the following start using what they have identified in part B of the form:
    • “I feel powerful when I ___________________________”
