Icebreaker: A Friendly Bunch

Purpose

This is a fun and effective exercise especially for a group of delegates who don’t know each other or don’t normally work together. It provides a fun environment for training and puts some smiles on participant’s faces.

This activity is most effective with a group of delegates who don’t know each other or those who don’t normally work together.

Objective

Encourage delegates to interact with other participants in a short amount of time.

What You Need

  • A music player
  • Upbeat music

Setup

  • Ask delegates to sit on a series of chairs placed in a circle.
  • Explain to delegates that as soon as they hear the word “Go” from you, they have 30 seconds to ask as many people’s names and hug them.
  • At the end of 30 seconds, delegates should return to a different chair to sit.
  • Turn the music up before starting the activity.

Timing

Explaining the Exercise: 5 minutes

Activity: 1 minute

Group Feedback: 5 minutes

It is indeed a very powerful exercise. I've found it to be creating a tremendous amount of Positive Energy Field for a group. Total strangers gel together and start acting as a Team in no time !!
