Learning Exercise: Anonymous Review

Learning Exercise: Anonymous Review

Purpose

This exercise takes advantage of social proof to illustrate the importance of topics learned during the course. It is ideal to run this exercise at the end of a course to review what has been covered. The idea is to see which lessons most delegates found interesting (without influencing each other’s opinions) so they can focus more on them in the future.

Objective

Vote for the most interesting lessons you went through in this course.

What You Need

  • Blanks cards
  • Papers

Setup

  • Provide three blank cards to each delegate as well as sheets of paper.
  • Ask delegates to think about the course and identify the top five areas they found most interesting. These are lessons that they can benefit most from and utilise in their daily activities.
  • They can go through their workbook and notes to refresh their minds on what has been covered during the course.
  • Allocate 5 minutes for this part.
  • Now ask delegates to rank the 5 areas they have identified and write the top three on three different cards.
  • Ask delegates to place the cards face down on a central pile.
  • Allocate 2 minutes for this part.
  • Once everyone is finished, reveal the cards. Ask delegates to read through them and identify those that are similar to each other. Cards for each area should be placed together in separate piles.
  • Identify three piles with the highest number of cards. These represent three areas that most delegates have identified as significant and worthy of future consideration.
  • Write a summary of these areas on a separate sheet, make copies of this sheet and distribute a copy as handout to each delegate so they can keep it as reference.

Timing

Explaining the Exercise: 2 minutes
